Thank you for choosing Waterdown Village Chiropractic & Wellness Group! We look forward to meeting you soon, but before we do, we want to walk you through what to expect on your first visit.
You will be welcomed into our clinic by our amazing team of wellness health assistants who will be happy to answer any questions you might have. You will either provide the paperwork you have already completed, or we’ll ask you to complete our new patient package while you wait for your appointment time.
Before your appointment, you will be given a tour of the facilities to introduce you to our space and the breadth of services available to you and then brought to the private and comfortable room for your initial appointment.
Here is what you can expect during your first appointment based on the service you have selected:
You will be joined by one of our skilled Family Chiropractors who will conduct a thorough initial assessment as a first step. This will include discussing your complete health history and also performing a physical assessment. They will discuss our approach to chiropractic care and answer any and all questions you might have. During this initial appointment, they might request that you go for x-rays or ask for your consent to get reports if recent x-rays already exist.
When you meet with one of our trained Physiotherapists for your first session, you will review your health history and undergo a physical examination to determine the current state of the problem.
During this one-hour session, you will meet with either Dr. Carly Wendler or Dr. Elena Zarifis to conduct a full health-history and discussion on current issues that you are looking to address. Your Naturophatic Doctor will share their approach to natural care and begin to create a customized care plan based on your needs. Any follow-up appointments will be determined by the next steps you commit to taking and will be discussed with you before leaving.
Every person is biochemically unique, so each appointment is catered to you, individually. On your first visit, our holistic nutritionist will discuss with you your particular goals, challenges, and frustrations. After your discussion, your holistic nutritionist will help you devise a wellness plan that will include nutritional support that is easily implemented into your life.
While there is no lengthy client assessment phase required for massage therapy, your therapist will take a few extra minutes during your first visit to discuss past treatments and any areas of focus that you’d like to address.
Custom Foot Orthotics
On your first visit one of our qualified doctors of chiropractic will discuss your presenting issue such as plantar fasciitis (arch and heel pain), pes plans (flat feet), genu valgum (knock knees), metatarsalgia (ball of foot pain), hip pain, excessive pronation etc and complete a posture examination and an orthopaedic examination of the foot. The chiropractor will also complete a gait analysis of how you walk. If you are a candidate for custom orthotics, your chiropractor will discuss the best options for you and what to expect. A 3D cast will be completed of your foot and your chiropractor will discuss any modifications of the orthotic needed. A follow up appointment will be booked to fit your orthotics and how to wear them in properly. You do not have to be a current patient of the clinic in order to book a custom foot orthotic appointment. All paperwork needed for insurance will be provided to you upon dispensing of your orthotic. We encourage you to ask your insurance provider if you need a prescription for your orthotics.
During this 1 hour visit, our counsellors will begin by discussing confidentiality and answering any questions you have prior to starting a more in-depth conversation. We would then review your intake forms and we may ask some further questions for clarification. As we move on, we would focus on what you would like to talk about and/or accomplish from our time together. Some people come with specific goals they wish to achieve in their personal development and family journey, while others are seeking our objective perspective to listen and support a life circumstance they wish to work through. Frequency of meeting and follow-up sessions are primarily determined based on a person’s needs, goals, and availability.
Again, these are all general guidelines as everybody’s need and situation is different. Should you have any questions at all about what to expect when you visit our office, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time. We are here to help!
