First Visit

Thank you for choosing Waterdown Village Chiropractic & Wellness Group! We look forward to meeting you soon, but before we do, we want to walk you through what to expect on your first visit.

You will be welcomed into our clinic by our amazing team of wellness health assistants who will be happy to answer any questions you might have. You will either provide the paperwork you have already completed, or we’ll ask you to complete our new patient package while you wait for your appointment time.

Before your appointment, you will be given a tour of the facilities to introduce you to our space and the breadth of services available to you and then brought to the private and comfortable room for your initial appointment.

Here is what you can expect during your first appointment based on the service you have selected:

Chiropractic: You will be joined by either Dr. Cheryl van der Mark or Dr. Janice Oldham who will conduct a thorough 50-minute initial assessment as a first step. This will include discussing your complete health history and also performing a physical assessment. They will discuss our approach to chiropractic care and answer any and all questions you might have. During this initial appointment, they might request that you go for x-rays or ask for your consent to get reports if recent x-rays already exist.

Physiotherapy: When you meet with Karen Moreira for your first one-hour session, you will review your health history and undergo a physical examination to determine the current state of the problem.

Naturopathic: During this one-hour session, you will meet with either Dr. Carly Wendler or Dr. Laura MacLeod to conduct a full health-history and discussion on current issues that you are looking to address. Your Naturophatic Doctor will share their approach to natural care and begin to create a customized care plan based on your needs. Any follow-up appointments will be determined by the next steps you commit to taking and will be discussed with you before leaving.

Massage Therapy: While there is no lengthy client assessment phase required for massage therapy, your therapist will take a few extra minutes during your first visit to discuss past treatments and any areas of focus that you’d like to address.

Life Coach: During your first one-hour visit with Juli Fyfe, you will work together to complete a patient intake package and begin discussions on the areas of your life that you’d like to focus on in your sessions. At the end of the first session, Juli will provide you further instruction on some takeaway questions that she’d like you to complete before your second visit.

Again, these are all general guidelines as everybody’s need and situation is different. Should you have any questions at all about what to expect when you visit our office, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time. We are here to help!
